ingredients

  • firm or extra firm tofu
  • low sodium soy sauce
  • oyster sauce (or vegetarian stir fry sauce)
  • vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper

steps

  1. chop tofu into smaller pieces.
  2. pat down tofu with a paper towel to get rid of some of the water.
  3. add oil to pan, and wait for it to reach medium heat.
  4. add tofu. fry 3-5 minutes on high heat until bottom is golden brown. add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a bit of water in a bowl. mix and set to the side.
  6. flip all tofu pieces to the other side, and fry for 2-3 more minutes.
  7. add the sauce combination to the pan, and fry for 30 more seconds.

troubleshooting

  1. Try to find Asian tofu brands. American tofu has a slightly different taste and consistency.
  2. Size is totally to your preference; smaller pieces will be tastier/crispier but requires more work.
